RUDOLPH WETZEL "RUDY" JACKSON, 89 of Huntington, passed away Friday, September 19, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born October 10, 1924 in Wayne, a son of the late Henry Joseph and Clara Ball Jackson. Rudy graduated from Wayne High School in 1942 before serving as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946. He then attended Marshall University where he set track records with the cross country team and later graduated from WVU in 1951 earning a BSEE in electrical engineering. Following graduation, Rudy began a career as Plant Utilities Manager in the Aircraft Engine Group with General Electric until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Fairfield, Ohio, as well as a member of the IEEE Institute of Electrical Engineers, the AIPE Institute of Plant Engineers where he was nominated "1983 Engineer of the Year." In addition to his parents, a daughter, Susan Jeanne Jackson-Berryman also preceded him in death, along with a son, Rudolph W. "Chip" Jackson; a sister, Betty Jackson Ferguson; and three brothers, Joe, Frank and Douglas Jackson. Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Helen Robinett Jackson; two daughters, Karen Marie (Jackson) Bazzle and husband, Ross of Charlotte, N.C., Sandi (Jackson) Mathews and husband, Doug of Liberty, Ind.; a step-daughter, Linda Robin (Daniels) Rowe and husband, Tom of Sumter, S.C.; a sister, Agnes Leathers of Lebanon, Ohio; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, September 22, 2014 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Jake Steele. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park in Huntington. Friends may call one hour prior to services at Morris Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Woodlands Assisted Living.
