

He attended Cornell University and graduated from Union College, class of 1957, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and held the position of Grand Scribe. Douglas served his country in the United States Army as a medic. He worked at U. S. Catheter and Instrument Company in Glens Fall, NY. He was Chairman and CEO of Universal Medical Instrument Corporation in Ballston Spa, NY and Chairman of the Eastern Division of New York Beef Cattlemen’s Association. Douglas also served on the Galway Ambulance Board, Galway, NY; the Saratoga Hospital Foundation, Saratoga Springs, NY; the Adirondack Home Health Aides Association; and the Ballston Spa National Bank. He was a member of the West Charlton Presbyterian Church, West Charlton, NY. Most recently, he was a contract driver for Team Dodge, Huntsville, TX.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Barbara Grady Seholm; son, Brian and wife Carolyn; son, Doug Jr. and wife Valerie; daughter, Siri and husband Robert; daughter, Katherine (Katie); daughter, Amanda and husband Jason; and son, Erik and wife Kristin; grandchildren, Trevor, Niles, Hannah, Caroline and Garrett; and his pups, Bug and Toad. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Huntsville Funeral Home. Burial will be in West Charlton Cemetery in Charlton, NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rita B. Huff Animal Shelter and Humane Society, 530 Bearkat Boulevard, Huntsville, TX 77340.
