On February 19, 2012, after a long battle with Advanced Alzheimer’s, our father, Robert Ringo went home to be with our gracious heavenly Father. He was born on January 3, 1939 in Huntsville, Texas to Nancy and Ed Ringo.
Robert graduated from Huntsville High School in 1957 where he met the love of his life, Barbara Ringo better known as ”peanut”. He enjoyed playing basketball and made many lifelong friends while attending school.
He lived in Huntsville his entire life and considered his home on Harmon Creek “the most beautiful place in the world”. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, meeting people and telling jokes. Robert was known for his sense of humor. He provided a wonderful way for us to grow up. We could not have dreamed of a better way of life than in Lakeland, riding dirt bikes, skiing, fishing, swimming and enjoying friends.
He had a wonderful marriage to our mother, Barbara Ringo who went to heaven on January 9, 1994. His brothers, Edward Ringo Jr., Taylor Ringo, Howard Ringo, James Ringo and his sister Bonnie Ringo Foxworth have all preceded him in death. In addition, Vicki Ringo died on January 4, 2012.
Robert is survived by his son, Robert Ringo, Jr. and daughter-in-law Vanalyn Ringo of Austin, his daughter Linda Reed and son-in-law Walt Reed and his grandchildren, Michael and Kalah Reed of Austin.
A special thanks to Wayne Ringo, whom he considered a brother, and Donnie Ringo Hart who were always supportive and loving, providing much care and many rides to doctors and hospitals. Thanks also to his many visitors and especially to Wilma Garrett for her help, wisdom and encouragement in the last days. Thanks to Ryan Ringo for his many “posse” endeavors. Thanks to Chris Gladden for his support during Dad’s illness. Also thanks to Margaret Middleton for the special care she provided.
Services will be held at Huntsville Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday, February 24th from 6:00 till 8:00. Services will be held Saturday at 10:00.
