He was born on April 5, 1953 in Cwikow (pronounced Chi-cove), Poland to the late Wladyslaw and Stasia (Laczynski) Prokop. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1960 to Indian Orchard, MA and later moved to Woonsocket, RI where he lived until moving to the Outer Cape twenty years ago.
Prior to his illness Tony spent his later years living along the sea shore which allowed him to fully enjoy his love for striped bass fishing. He also took much pleasure in spending time with his friends, especially when it involved a poker or card game. Tony had a heart of gold, a listening ear and was always willing to share his advice to those in need. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Aside from his fishing gear, Tony is survived by his siblings Joseph and Susan (Bennett) Prokop of Whitinsville, MA and Stanley and Therese (Gallotello) Prokop of North Attleboro. He was a loving uncle to Christopher, Emily, Matthew and Thomas Prokop.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Tony’s memory to The Soup Kitchen in Provincetown https://www.skipfood.org/donate.
A celebration of Tony’s life will be schedule at a later date. For online condolences please visit www.doanebealamesharwich.com.
