Barbara R. (Scaringi) Greenhalgh, 82, of Hyannis, MA formerly of Billerica, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 with her sons by her side.
She was born in Cambridge, MA, the daughter of the late Daniel and Rose Marie (Zediana) Scaringi. Barbara married the late John Thomas Greenhalgh Sr (1988). They raised their family in Somerville, MA and later moved to Billerica, MA. After her sons had grown, Barbara worked as a math teacher’s aide the with Billerica Schools. Over the years, she and her family enjoyed many vacations to Cape Cod. Barbara loved the ocean and beautiful beaches, especially Veterans Beach. In 1984, she along with her husband and son Andy permanently moved to the Cape and settled in Hyannis. Shortly after moving, Barbara starting working for Sears. She loved dealing with people and was known for her upbeat personality and sense of humor. Barbara later joined her son Andy who founded The Silkworm Florist in Hyannis. They worked together at numerous craft and garden shows for over 30 years. She loved the crafting community and customers. She will be deeply missed.
Barbara is survived by her loving sons, Tom Greenhalgh and his wife Julia of Billerica, MA and Andy Greenhalgh of Hyannis, MA; her brother Daniel Scaringi of Billerica, MA and sister Diana Sweeney of Florida. She is also survived by her many adored nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, May 18th from 4-8 p.m. at Doane, Beal & Ames, 160 W. Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601. A Funeral Service will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19th at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Sandwich, 159 Main St., Sandwich, MA 02563. A private cremation will follow.
