He graduated from Arlington High School Class of 1950. He served in the Navy during the Korean War as a Second Class Radioman aboard heavy cruiser USS Albany. After his service, he worked at Payne Elevator in Cambridge until 1973.
Bruce married Evelyn Hatch of Scituate in February of 1962. They lived in Quincy until 1973, then moved to West Yarmouth. While they resided on the Cape, they also bought a second home in Port Orange, FL.
Bruce was a painting contractor on Cape for many years and worked well into his eighties.
Bruce was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn, who passed away in 2007 after 45 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his three brothers, Al, Terry and Bill Stephens as well as his sister, Peg McPherson. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Thomas Talbot Masonic Lodge in Billerica, MA, member of the Navy Memorial in Washington, DC and member of the alumni association of Brantwood Camp in Peterborough, NH.

Service will be held at St. David’s Episcopal Church, Old Main St, South Yarmouth, MA on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 12:00pm.
