Carol Jane Cahoon

Carol Jane (Buckley) Cahoon, 77, of Hyannis, passed away on May 6, 2026, at Cape Cod Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Thomas “Tommy” A. Cahoon, Sr., her high school sweetheart, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.

Born in Worcester, Carol was the daughter of the late Philip J. Buckley and the late Alice B. Buckley of Worcester. She worked as a school aide for the Barnstable Public School System and advanced to become the secretary to the assistant superintendent, a position that she enjoyed for many years prior to retirement.

Carol found true happiness in helping others. Whether it was supporting local charities or individuals, she was always giving of herself to make another person’s life better. Her dedication to her family was unmatched and will be a beacon of light in their lives forever. Long drives with her beloved husband, Tommy, enjoying her Hallmark shows, cross stitching, and word searches brought such joy to Carol as well as appreciating plants and flowers.

In addition to her beloved Tommy, Carol is also survived by her loving sons, Thomas A. Cahoon, Jr. and his wife Karen of Hyannis and Christopher P. Cahoon, Sr. and his wife Julie of Hyannis and her cherished grandson Christopher P. Cahoon, Jr. She was the sister of William Buckley and his partner Ginny Holbrook of Truth or Consequences, NM, Robert Buckley and his wife Lynn of San Diego, CA, Patricia Baer and her husband Arthur of Sheldon, SC, Thomas Buckley and his wife Deborah of Santa Fe, NM, and Kathleen Hendrick and her husband Stephen of Tiverton, RI. Carol also leaves wonderful memories with nieces, nephews, and so many friends whose lives she touched.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Carol’s life, on her birthday, Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 1-3 PM, at the Doane, Beal, & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main St., Hyannis.
