Cecilia Tavares Ferreira

Cecilia was born in Lomba Do Cavaleiro, Povacao, Sao Miguel, Azores. She immigrated to the United States in 1966 with her husband and children and lived in New Bedford before moving to Hyannis where she resided for over 44 years. She worked as a seamstress most of her life. She was an avid gardener, flowers were her passion, and she had an amazing green thumb. She also loved to crochet, knit and bake. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She was the wife of the late Virginio Ferreira for 56 years, survived by her four daughters and son, Maria Amaral and her late husband Jose Amaral, Maria Tavares and her late husband Francisco Tavares, Rose Marques and her husband John Marques, Alina Tanzer and her husband LeRoy Tanzer, and Manuel Ferreira and his late wife Helen Ferreira. Cecilia had 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11:30am from the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA. 02601, followed by a funeral Mass at 12:30pm at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main St., Centerville, with burial at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery .Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday October 25th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
