

Charles F. Hurley, Jr., a prominent Hyannis entrepreneur, died on Tuesday, May 18th. He was born in Cambridge, MA to the late Governor and Mrs. Charles F. Hurley, Sr. He was a graduate of Cranwell Preparatory School, Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Boston College. He was also a former resident of Winchester, MA. Mr. Hurley was the longtime owner of the Hyannis Holiday Motel as well as multiple other hotel properties over 55 years. During his career, Mr. Hurley owned and managed apartment buildings in Cambridge, and was a real estate and insurance broker. He had a love of the water, enjoyed dinning out at his favorite Cape Cod restaurants and watching his favorite Boston sports on TV, and sitting in the sun. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Mr. Hurley is survived by his wife, Dorothea A (Flynn) Hurley, his daughter Linda Going and her husband Dr. John C. Going of Westford, MA; his sons Charles F. Hurley III and his wife Joanne of Youngsville, LA; James F. Hurley and his wife Leanne of Centerville; John F. Hurley and his wife Laura of Little Compton, RI; Stephen F. Hurley and his wife Sally of Centerville. In addition, he is survived by three grandchildren: Sean and Caitlin Hurley of Swampscott and Michael Going of Westford, MA. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Quinn and her husband Leigh of Winchester, MA and Sarasota, FL. He was predeceased by his sisters Sarah Hurley, Elizabeth O’Connor, and Ellen Murphy. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 21st at Doane, Beal & Ames, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA from 4 pm until 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Parish in Centerville on Saturday, May 22nd at 10 am.
