Colleen lived a life defined by resilience, adventure, and a remarkable ability to form lasting friendships. Her warmth, wit, generosity, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Born on July 27, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was the daughter of Malon and Deon Carter. She graduated from Mount Olympus High School and earned a degree in Education from the University of Utah, where she was a member of the varsity ski team. Her love of skiing and the outdoors remained a constant throughout her life.
After college, Colleen moved to Northern California, where she met her first husband, William Alan Mixon. They spent ten years in Hong Kong during Bill’s overseas assignment and welcomed two children, William Carter Mixon and Stephanie Alford Mixon. After returning to California, Bill passed away in 1968, leaving Colleen to raise their young family with strength and determination.
She later married David Jon Morgan, and they settled in Needham, Massachusetts, where they welcomed Colleen’s third child David Jon Morgan Jr., and built lasting friendships over more than twenty years.
In the late 1990s, Colleen moved to Hyannis, Massachusetts, where she married Richard “Dick” Roberts and embraced Cape Cod life for nearly three decades. She was an active member of Cummaquid Golf Club, serving on committees and enjoying golf, bridge, tennis, skiing, and time with friends.
Family was central to Colleen’s life. Known as “Coco” to her grandchildren, she loved bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome. Her kindness, wisdom, and thoughtful guidance will be deeply missed.
Colleen is survived by her husband, Richard Roberts; her son William Carter Mixon and his wife, Cindy Howard Mixon; her son David Jon Morgan Jr. and his wife, Pamela Morgan; and her grandchildren, William Alan Mixon, Jessica Quin Mixon, Madeline Quin Mixon, Jacob Matthew Mixon, and Elizabeth Carter Morgan.
She is also survived by Richard’s children, Kristi and Chip Ruggiero, Deann and Jack Henry, and Stephen and Heather Roberts, along with their children, whom Colleen loved as part of her extended family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Malon and Deon Carter; her first husband, William Alan Mixon; her second husband, David Jon Morgan; and her daughter, Stephanie Alford Mixon.
