Donald R. Rose

July 18, 1932December 31, 2020

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Donald Rose, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, on December 31, 2020. Donald, a native Cape Codder, was in his 88th year.

In 1949 he met the love of his life Doris (Lus) Rose, and they were inseparable for 70 years.

After serving overseas in the Air Force he returned home where he worked for Merchant and Cassidy and when the B-bus came into existence he worked as a driver for Cape Cod Transit Authority until his retirement. Donald was an avid traveler and had a great appreciation of nature, be it abroad or in his own backyard. He loved to explore the Cape and its magical places, often taking long drives with his family to search out new discoveries.

He also had a passion for running, often jogging from village to village, he stayed active his entire life, most recently by walking daily.

More than anything, Donald loved his family. He and Doris would often travel to NJ where both daughters had moved and where his granddaughter presently lives to spend time with his great-granddaughter, Bobbi. She, In turn, would often come to the Cape to spend time with her Grampy.

Donald was predeceased by his daughter Tracy Rose-Thomas, brothers Domingo Rose Jr, Marvin Rose, and sister Jaqueline Rose and leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Doris Rose, daughter Wendy Rose-Mahdi, sisters Helen Rose and Beverly Garcia, and extended Sacramento, California family Grandchildren Bre Rose and husband Robert Brown, Farrad Mahdi, and Alix Rose Thomas and great-granddaughter Bobbi Rose Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of his life will be scheduled for the summer of 2021.

My deepest sympathy to his family. Seems just like yesterday I saw him at the fuel pumps in Yarmouth doing his stretches. How time flies. Looking back that was over 20 years ago. He always had a smile.

I knew Donald years ago as a passenger on his bus.He always made our rides enjoyable. He was respectable and helpful to all his passengers. He was devoted to his job,his family and to life.He always spoke affectionately and proudly of his loving wife, Doris and his daughters and grandchildren. He was very proud of them all and very grateful. The world has lost a very kind soul indeed.Condolences to his family. It was with surprise and sadness upon seeing Donald's obituary in the CCTimes today. I have such wonderful memories of times spent with Don. Movies, work, travels and just enjoying life are some of my fondest memories of time spent with him. His laugh was infectious to say the least!! I learned many things about life from Donald that you won't get from a book or classroom.
I will miss that smile and great laugh! My sincere condolences to Doris and his entire family. Keep smiling on us my friend!
