

Douglas R. Lavoie, age 69, of Hyannis, Massachusetts passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia Lavoie of Hyannis, MA.
Doug is survived by a sister, Nancy Lavoie of Dennis, MA; 5 children, Rebecca Fike of Ketchican, AK, Leah Smith of Marstons Mills, MA, Benjamin Lavoie of West Yarmouth, MA, Daniel Lavoie of Yarmouth Port, MA, and David Lavoie of Hyannis; 8 grandchildren, Keegan, Emma, Riley, Dylan, Emily, Benjamin, Catherine, and Madison; and several nieces and nephews.
Doug was born on June 19, 1952 to in New Bedford, MA.
He served in the United States Air Force as a medic in the 1970's and then worked as a surgical technician at Cape Cod Hospital for over 20 years. Doug enjoyed spending his free time playing the guitar and birdwatching. In his younger days he was an avid runner and ran in several marathons including the Boston Marathon more than once. He was also an avid hiker and loved spending time with his family camping and living in nature as much as possible.
Shortly before his passing he was able to go up into the mountains of Maine and New Hampshire with each of his children, one at a time, for quality bonding. He loved his family more than anything and it was important for him to have this time and memories with each of his children. He will be greatly missed but we all have these beautiful memories.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at the MA National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 11:15 AM.
