Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Gagnon

IN THE CARE OF

Doane Beal & Ames

Elizabeth Ann Gagnon, 81, of Centerville passed away at home on August 7, 2022. She fought a valiant and long battle against cancer with great bravery, strength, and grace. She was a beloved wife to Edward Gagnon and a loving mother to Meg Gagnon (Tim O’Connell), Peg Garcia (Aaron), and Jennifer Brady (John). Elizabeth was born in West Virginia and received a bachelor’s degree in Education at Marshall University. She met the love of her life and husband of 61 years while visiting Cape Cod in the summer of 1960. Edward and Elizabeth married a year later in 1961 and shared a wonderful life together. She is survived by her grandchildren- Jordan Robinson, Chandler Kinnear, Elizabeth Brady, Sam Robinson, and Rebecca Brady, and her great grandchildren Joey Faria, Elijah Johnson, and Jayliana Faria. She is also survived by her brothers Sam Owens and Tom Owens (Sheila), and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her youngest brother Bob Owens and her eldest grandchild Hayley Robinson. After a twenty-year career with Verizon, she devoted her life to God and to her family. As a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Hyannis, she held many positions such as Superintendent of Sunday Schools. She also volunteered her time helping with Noah shelter meals, the church food pantry and thrift shop, and traveled on Mission group trips to the Dominican Republic to help those in need. Throughout the wonderful things she did for the church the church family became a second family to her. Not only did Elizabeth, or “Mimi” as she was known by those who loved her lead an amazing life dedicated to being selfless and raising her three children; she also had an open door and open arms for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren whenever help was needed and created a wonderful childhood for them. Elizabeth will be missed dearly by her family, friends, and all the various lives she touched with her healing hands. Elizabeth’s family would like to thank Dr. Flanigan and the Ayling 2 Oncology team at Cape Cod Hospital for their excellent care over the years. Services will be held Saturday August 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hyannis with a celebration of life to immediately follow.
