Elizabeth “Betty” Willett, 85, of Naples, Fl and West Hyannisport, MA passed away peacefully Wednesday (September 12, 2018) at Cape Cod Hospital in the loving arms of her husband and with her family by her side. She was a deeply loved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, nurse and friend. Betty lived every day with zest, enthusiasm and with a great sense of humor. She was a caring nurse with a great ability to diagnose her patients and to help them. She will always be remembered with love and laughter and we will miss her greatly.
She was born in Dorchester, MA on November 13, 1932, the third of four children born to Walter and Eva Glynn. Betty graduated from the Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing in 1953 and began her
career as a RN at Cape Cod Hospital and continued later for many years as a private nurse on Cape Cod. She met the love of her life, John “Jack” Willett, while they were working at Boston Edison. They
were married at St. Catherine’s of Sienna in Norwood, MA. They were blessed with four children and raised a family together in Hyannis, MA. She treasured her time with family, friends and grandchildren at both the Hyannis Yacht Club and the Glades CC in Naples, Fl. Betty was an avid artist and gardener and brightened many homes with her works and arrangements.
She is predeceased by her brothers Jack Glynn of Norwood, MA and Walter Glynn of Morristown, NJ and by her eldest son John Willett of Duxbury, MA. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Jack Willett, her son Ronald Willett and his wife Jacquie of Marblehead, MA, and her daughters Jeanne Wolff and her husband John of Duxbury, MA, and Renee DeDecko and her husband Matthew of Osterville, MA. Also surviving is her dear sister, Susan Anderson of Hyannis, MA and her daughter in law Amy Willett of Duxbury, MA.She was the cherished grandmother to Jay, Lauren and Christian Willett, Alyson, Jack and Leah Wolff, Brendan Willett, and Callie, Lilly and Matthew DeDecko; and she was also the proud aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Monday, September 17, 2018 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main St. Hyannis, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday,
September 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 S Main St, Centerville, MA. A private burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers,
