Faith (Petralias) Rodolakis passed away on March 16, 2024, after an illness. Her eighty-seven years were marked by a level of determination, humor, and love of family that seemed impossible to contain in her five-foot-two frame. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Alexandra and Alexander Petralias, Faith was a student at Boston University when she met then Lieutenant Michael S. Rodolakis. They married in 1957 and what followed was a fifty-five year partnership that eventually brought them back to Worcester where their sons, Stephan and Alex, were born and grew up. The family spent summers on Cape Cod, first with Faith's family and then in their own homes, ultimately settling in West Hyannisport. They became full-time Cape residents in 1994, after Mike's retirement from the day-to-day business world, and Faith and Mike developed close ties to their Cape Cod neighbors, and to the circle of friends they found in Naples, Florida, where they spent the winter months.
Faith and Mike traveled the country and the world as part of Mike's business career and, later, for pleasure. In addition to visiting her father's family home in Greece, Faith went to Japan, China, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, Great Britain, and made frequent trips to Europe. Following Mike's death in 2012, Faith focused her attention closer to home and particularly on her family, which by then included four grandchildren. No grandmother has ever loved her grandchildren more fiercely than Yia Yia loved hers, and she lost no opportunity to tell them how important they were to her (and when they needed haircuts). She was extremely proud of each of them and of their individual talents and accomplishments.
Faith is survived by her sons (she was always prouder of her daughters-in-law, however), Stephan (Karyn) and Alex (Kathryn); her grandchildren, Michael, Bobby, Liz, and Judy; her sister, Madelaine Dewey; and her much-loved cousins, Martha Iazzetti, Jami Giovannopoulos, and the extended Christelis family. She was predeceased by her brother, Nicholas Petralias.
Faith's family would like to thank the staff at Liberty Commons for their kindness and gentleness to Faith during her stay with them, as well as Dr. Rosa Moncholi, Dr. Molly Sullivan, Dr. Edward Wyluda and their office members, for their excellent care.
Services will be private. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cape Cod Healthcare's Mugar Cancer Center.
