He was the son of the late Ann Shirley Craddock (Connal) and Thomas A. Craddock, and was predeceased by his brother Kevin.
Gary was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence and attended Boston College for economics on full scholarship.
An entrepreneur, Gary opened his first dive shop, Eastern Divers Supply and went on to own and operate several dive shops, earning awards from a number of national SCUBA Instructor organizations. For many years, Gary led annual group trips including ice dives in Lake Champlain, scallop dives to Bar Harbor and several trips to Caribbean dive locales.
Gary moved to Cape Cod and joined the family business at Sea Sports in Hyannis where he earned a reputation in the dive community for his expertise in regulator repair.
Gary was a lifelong learner, avid reader, and coin and memorabilia collector, with a keen interest in history, particularly the city of Lawrence where he was from. He will be remembered for his incredible intelligence, wisdom, and insights on the world that he loved to share with his family.
Gary is survived by his brothers James (Bert) and Thomas and sisters Nancy and Marianne, his nephew Jeffrey Craddock and wife Annie and their children Tim and Caitlin, niece Kelly Denham and longtime partner Joseph Dantonio, and niece Julie Campbell and husband Christopher and their children Isla and Olive, all of Cape Cod.
Funeral to be held Tuesday, July 5th, 11 AM at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. Burial will follow at Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville. All are welcome to attend.
