Herman F. Seavey

12/14/1935 – 9/7/2026

Herman Seavey grew up in South Gardiner, Maine, where his love of baseball began almost as soon as he could walk – and stayed with him throughout his life.

He married his college sweetheart, Nancy, and together they moved to the Boston area, where they raised their family. Herm spent nearly three decades with John Hancock, a career that took him to many places and introduced him to people from all walks of life. He loved sharing stories from those years, including the time he met Walmart founder Sam Walton.

After retiring to Cape Cod, Herm had plenty of time for the things he loved most. During Cape Cod summers, he dedicated much of his time to volunteering for the Brewster Whitecaps. He and Nancy traveled together to places including Egypt, Paris, and Greece, and winters brought golf in the Florida sunshine.

And wherever Herm happened to be, there was always room for one of life's simple pleasures: a bowl of ice cream every day – and, on a good day, two.

Herm's charm, quick wit, and gift for a good story will be remembered fondly by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is survived by Nancy, his wife and college sweetheart; their three children, Pamela, Joanne, and Scott; and his granddaughter, Ava.
