

Born on January 31, 1918, in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Mary (Chiasson) LeFort. As a young girl, she moved with her family and eventually settled in the North Cambridge area.
In the early 1980’s, she retired from Polaroid and then earned her Home Health Care Certificate and cared for the elderly until the age of 76 when she moved to Cape Cod to be near her family.
Hilda was a devoted communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis. She enjoyed gardening, reading and always had a crossword puzzle book nearby. In her earlier years, she was an avid candle pin bowler. More than anything, she cherished the time that she shared with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Larry E. Crowley; her daughter, Barbara J. Crowley-Rackliffe, her two brothers, Dennis LeFort, George LeFort; her two sisters, Gena LeFort and Lucy Caruso; and her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Crowley.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Betty Ann) Crowley-Nomejko and her husband, Joseph of Hyannis; her son, James C. Crowley of Hyannis; 4 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; her brothers, Joseph (Sam) LeFort of Pembroke Pines, FL, John LeFort of Lynnfield, MA, her sister and best friend, Nora Peters of Falmouth; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main Street in Hyannis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 347 South Street in Hyannis. Rite of Committal will follow in Beechwood Cemetery in Centerville.
