

Irene attended St. Mary’s High School and graduated Cum Laud’e from Our Lady of the Elms College in 1948. She taught Latin, Spanish, and French at Nathan Hale High School in Moodus, CT for five years. Her love for the Cape was nurtured by spending her summers during college as a physician’s receptionist in Falmouth. Irene settled down with her husband James M. Hobert in 1953. She enjoyed traveling across the country visiting national parks, as well as visiting France, Spain and Mexico. Irene was a member of the Ladies Guild at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.
Besides her loving husband James M. Hobert, Irene is survived by her children; Rev. James M. Hobert, Jr of AZ, John Hobert of Marstons Mills, Camille Brodek and her husband Greg of ME, Mary Martin of Falmouth, her sister Madeline Hogan of FL, 3 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Saint Francis Xavier Church 347 South St, Hyannis at 11:00am.Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 10:00am at Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 505 N Parkway, Memphis, TN 38105.
