

James passed away on January 6, 2015 after a 6 month battle with cancer.
He was the owner of Gringo's Restaurant, Main St., Hyannis since 1981. He was also a retired teacher at East Falmouth Elementary where he worked for 35 years.
Born in Cambridge, MA, Jim is predeceased by his parents James N. and Helena G. (Coyle) Carey and his sister, Carolyn Healy of Falmouth.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman and when he wasn't working he spent his time skiing, hiking, biking, mountain climbing, and scuba diving. He had a great love for his family and nothing delighted him more than to have his children working and skiing together.
He was a member of the Appalachian Mtn. Club 4,000 footer club. Past President of the Loon Mt. Ski Team. Served in the National Guard for 6 years with an honorable discharge. He was an Eagle and Sea Scout and Lifeguard manager for 8 years in Falmouth. He participated in the NYC Five Boro Bike Tour for 4 years with his son, Ryan and was a Cub Scout leader for 5 years. Jim always welcomed a physical challenge and would put his heart and soul into everything he tried.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Tina Carey and their children, Ryan Carey of Northbough, MA, Rory and Brendon Carey of Centerville, MA, James N. Carey III of Hyannis, MA and his daughter, Sherri Clyne and her husband Matthew Clyne and his grandchildren, Charlie, Sam and Kathryn Clyne of Herndon, VA.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am, Monday, January 12, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 Main St., Centerville, MA. The burial will follow at Beechwood Cemetery on the corner of Rte. 28 and Old Stage Rd., Centerville, MA
