Jean Tobin (born Mary Jean Ahearn) peacefully passed away on Saturday January 22, 2022, at the age of 72. Known as Jeanie to her friends, she was a light that brightened the world, if she met you, she would instantly be your friend forever. Many described her as a gift to have in their life as her warmth and empathy spread and brought happiness to those around her.
Jean attended Marshfield High School where she was captain of the cheerleading team and prom queen, but most importantly Marshfield is where she met her future husband of over 50 years, Jon Tobin. She graduated with a degree in education from Mt Ida College and would go on to a career in jewelry as a certified gemologist. Jon and Jean lived in Plymouth, MA and Philadelphia, PA but spent most of their life in Pittsford, NY with summers on Cape Cod by the ocean. She grew up by the water and always felt most at home on the beaches of Massachusetts.
Jon and Jean were blessed with three boys, two wonderful daughters-in-law and seven grandchildren. Despite all her talents, her greatest desire in life was to be a wife and mother, and she was a great one at that. She lived for her three boys who attribute all their accomplishments in life to the dedication and love of their parents. Her seven grandchildren who affectionately knew her as Honey, carry on her love of family and life.
She is survived by her husband Jon Tobin; Pat and Tessa Tobin and their boys JJ, Keegan, Garret and Brooker; Jay and Jackie Tobin and their children Michael, Liam and Catherine; and her brothers Ned Ahearn and Tom Ahearn. She was preceded in death by her son Michael E. Tobin.
A wake will be held between 5:00P and 8:00P Friday January 28th at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home 160 Main Street Hyannis MA.
