She was born in Boston, MA on August 30, 1945 to the late Alma Maidens and William Vokey. Jeanne attended Roslindale High School, graduated from Suffolk University and pursued a career as a mental health counselor on Cape Cod.
On October 3, 1998 she became the beloved wife and “queen” of Douglas MacArthur. During their twenty-two years of marriage they shared a love of adventure that they put to practice exploring the endless beauty of Cape Cod as well as setting out on an abundance of road trips along with their beloved furbaby Tobi Kiko. Their biggest adventure together, however, was perhaps the acquisition of an 1800's sea captain's house in Dennisport which together they lovingly transformed into a bed and breakfast.
Opened in 2006 the Conch Inn was a dream come true, not only for Jeanne, but for the multitude of guests who were treated to her warm hearted welcomes, family style gourmet breakfasts, and cozy conversations around the fire. Jeanne was the heart and soul of the Inn and flourished in the opportunities it provided to continue her lifelong tendencies to be a loving, generous, and compassionate friend to everyone she met.
Jeanne is survived by her husband Douglas MacArthur and former partner and children’s father, John DeSantis; daughter Trina Payan and granddaughter Gabriella Payan; daughter Melissa Flamburis and son-in-law Gary Orlando; son David Flamburis, daughter-in-law Natalie Flamburis, and grandchildren Paul, Dale, and Jack Flamburis; and her sister Susan Vokey.
Her service will be celebrated on Thursday morning, July 8th, at 11:00 AM at the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on 421 Wianno Ave in Osterville, MA.
In lieu of flowers please consider honoring Jeanne’s memory by hosting a meal with friends and family, going on an adventure with a loved one, or simply taking your furbaby for a walk and sharing your smile with those that cross your path
