SEAVER, Jeanne Elizabeth Becker, passed away early on January 22, 2021, at age 100. A devoted and loving wife, mother and friend, Jeanne (or Liza as she was known to many) was born to Francis and Helen Becker in Bridgeport, CT in 1920, was orphaned at age 12, and then raised by her grandmother and maiden aunt. She began her adult life in New York City, where she lived and worked for nearly 30 years. In 1953, she married Frank Alexander Seaver with whom she worked in advertising at the Jam Handy Organization in New York, and lived in Gramercy Park. They so loved New York that she often reminisced, “We felt that a day spent out of New York City was a day forever lost.” They moved to Detroit in 1959 to work in auto advertising and lived in Grosse Pointe City, MI until they retired to Cape Cod, MA (Centerville) in 1982, where they had spent many summers with their three sons. Her husband Frank predeceased her in 1988. She continued working as a law office manager in Hyannis, MA until her retirement at the ripe young age of 89. Two years ago she moved closer to family in Michigan, but always prayed to return to Cape Cod. She did so in late 2020 to spend the last six months of her life in the place, she said, where she “belonged.” She is survived by her loving sons, Jon and wife Jessica (of St. John’s, MI), Michael and wife Diane (of St. Clair Shores, MI), Christopher and wife Laura (of Hong Kong, China), daughter-in-law Ellison Franklin (of Northville, MI) and stepchildren Frank Seaver (of Monroe, OH) and Patricia Vitti (of Mission Viejo, CA), 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and her beloved King Charles Spaniel, Lucy. Liza was a lifelong, devout Catholic whose faith in God empowered her with a matter-of-fact ability to weather the many challenges in her life. Her faith - and the challenges of her early years – gave her a unique toughness, resiliency and spirit – and wicked sense of humor - that guided her throughout life and inspired those around her. She will leave an indelible mark and her memory and inspiration will live on. Facing her seventh bout with cancer in late 2020, she was determined to see her vote for president counted and to help usher in a new beginning for the country that she loved. In that, she succeeded, passing one day after she witnessed the Inauguration of a new president.
