Jo-Ann (Pambuko) Martin of Hyannis passed away peacefully on April 30. Jo-Ann was born on January 30, 1955 to parents John and Salma Pambuko in Roslindale and spent her childhood in Westwood before moving to Sagamore Beach with her parents and siblings in 1968. She graduated from Sandwich High School in 1972.
Jo-Ann began her decades-long career in banking as an assistant at Fleet Bank, which later merged with Rockland Trust. She served in branches across Cape Cod, ultimately finishing her career as branch manager in Chatham, where she was a beloved fixture in the community. Known for an unwavering commitment to her customers, she had a rare gift for making everyone who walked through her doors feel valued and appreciated. Her kindness, expertise, and warm presence made her not just a banker, but a trusted friend to many. She retired in 2023.
Jo-Ann had a deep love for music, often strumming her guitar to the Hank Williams songs her father introduced her to as a child. She was a beach girl through and through. She found joy in walks by the shore, collecting sea glass and shells, and taking her daily dips at Craigville Beach—always the last one out of the water. She had a knack for finding hidden treasures while thrifting and took pride in decorating her cozy, nautical-themed home. And when it came to a lobster roll, she could never say no.
She was the heart of her family—the keystone that held everything together. Her love for her children knew no bounds; they were her world, and nothing brought her more joy than the arrival of her first grandchild last year. She was endlessly caring, always putting others before herself, and her warmth and vibrant spirit made people gravitate to her. A true matriarch, she did it all with grace, strength, and selflessness, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and support.
Jo-Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, John Martin of Hyannis; her brother, John Pambuko; her beloved children, Kristie Martin and her husband, Alex Eizenberg; her son, Leigh Martin; and her cherished granddaughter, Ilana Eizenberg. She was predeceased by her sister, Lorraine Thompson.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 15th from 5-8pm at Doane Beal & Ames, 160 West Main St, Hyannis followed by a mass on Friday, May 16th, 11am at St. Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis.
"After mass, please join us at Tugboats Restaurant in Hyannis at 12:30 to continue celebrating her life."
