Born in Marlborough, MA in April 1960, and spending his childhood years as a resident of Northborough, it was in 1982 when he found his forever home living on Cape Cod.
John was a veteran of the US Navy where he served as a Seabee. He found himself fortunate to travel to a number of different places around the world during his service but the island of Antigua held a special place in his heart.
After he retired from the Navy, as a carpenter by trade, he joined his father in business and for over 40 years worked with him side-by-side.
John was a devoted son, brother, and friend. He always took time to reach out to people to let them know he was thinking of them; Connecting with family and dear friends brought him joy. One of his other greatest joys was deep sea fishing especially off Nantucket sound. As an avid fisherman he took a number of trips to Islamorada, FL where he fished for Tarpon as well as Costa Rica where he fished for and caught a barracuda. John will be dearly missed by all especially his Mom and sisters but he touched many lives and his passing will leave a great void.
John is survived by his mother Anita Burnham of Northborough, MA, his sister Linda Burnham of Framingham, MA, and his sister Brenda Didonna and her husband Nick of Shrewsbury, MA. He also leaves behind two nephew's Alexander Burnham of Natick, MA and Daniel Huss of Raleigh, NC and many close relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Stan Burnham in 2023.
Arrangements are being handled by Doane, Beal, and Ames 160 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
The Burnham family would like to extend our appreciation to the Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center.
