

Born on May 9,1950, in Boston, Massachusetts, John was
raised in Brookline and graduated from Brookline High School in 1968. He later earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Babson College in 1972.
John was predeceased by his beloved sister, Christine Karageanis, his parents, Stowe and Nellie Carr and dear friends, Nancy and Al Popsuj. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Donna (Weber) Carr; his loving daughter, Jennifer Sheytanian, and her husband, Mark Sheytanian, of North Attleboro, Massachusetts;
and his cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Kathryn Sheytanian, also of North Attleboro. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, including Karen Wolff and Andrea Karageanis both of Foxboro, MA, Sean Weber of Woodland Hills, California, Christine Mahoney of Chestnut Hill, MA and Sean Mahoney of Swansea,MA. He was also the proud godfather of Alex Wolff from Foxboro, MA.
John shared a special bond with Jennifer’s in-laws, Judi and Ken Sheytanian of South Yarmouth MA, who instantly became family. Their friendship brought John great joy over the years. John was a dedicated businessman and owner/operator of Carr’s Specialty Breads, a wholesale bakery distribution company serving New England for many decades. He took tremendous pride in his work, the relationships he built with customers, and the life he created for his family.
He and Donna raised their family in Needham, MA where John especially enjoyed walking with his beloved dog, Wesley, through Ridge Hill and appreciating the beauty of the surrounding
landscape. In retirement, John and Donna happily made their home in Hyannis on Cape Cod, where they loved visiting the beach, exploring local restaurants and shops, and most
importantly, spending precious time with family whom he cherished deeply.
John was also passionate about amateur radio and was proud to hold the call sign NI1S. First licensed in 1966, he achieved Extra Class status and especially loved collecting and restoring old ham radio gear. He was also an avid fan of original Lionel trains. John was a proud Scottish Rite/Knights Templar Mason and enjoyed the fellowship and friendships it brought throughout his life. He will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, which brought laughter and warmth to so many. He volunteered with Massachusetts State Guard – 51st Security Battalion from 1984-1990 and was a lifetime member of Special Forces Association Chapter 54 in Boston, Massachusetts.
John will be remembered for his devotion to family, his kindness, his strong work ethic, and the love he shared with those closest to him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew
and loved him.
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 27th at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Centerville, MA at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The interment will be at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Brookline, MA on Thursday, May 28th - time to be announced.
