

John Mahan of Hyannis, MA and Punta Gorda, FL passed away January 10th at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Plymouth, MA from complications of Frontal-Temporal Dementia. John was born on October 15, 1940 in Cambridge, MA, the son of John and Kathleen Mahan.
He graduated from Archbishop Williams High School in 1958, The University of Massachusetts, Amherst MA in 1962 with a BBA in Accounting and received a MBA from Babson College, Wellesley MA in 1975. He became a CPA in 1962. He worked for many years for The Gillette Co and some of its subsidiaries.
Upon retiring he enjoyed traveling with his wife Joyce, both as an active home-exchanger and as a volunteer for IESC – International Executive Service Corp. For many years he was an active volunteer at St. Jeremiah’s Church in Framingham and more recently for ESC, Executive Service Corp. Other activities he enjoyed were golfing, fishing, boating, reading and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce to whom he was married for 51 years; his children, John(Stacy) Mahan of Holliston, MA; Lisa Mahan of W.Yarmouth, MA; Patricia (Keith) Beiter of Flushing, MI; MaryKay (Edward) McIntire of Framingham, MA and Timothy (Bianca) Mahan of Tempe, AZ; 16 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandson. He also leaves his sister Kathleen of Quincy, MA; his brother Richard (Eileen) of So. Weymouth and his sister Paula (Rino) of Billerica, MA; brother-in-law Edward (Roena) Zink of Yarmouth, ME; and sister-in-law Barbara (Bill) Whitman of Bremen, ME and Green Valley, AZ ; Many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by infant daughter Julie and beloved grandson B.J. Zompetti.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main Street, Centerville, MA 02632. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601.
John’s family gives their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the excellent and compassionate care provided by the staffs of Beth Israel Deaconess, Beacon Hospice and Harbor Point Assisted Living.
