John Jose Moreira

John Jose Moreira, 79, of Framingham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the devoted husband of Magna (Veiga) Moreira and the beloved son of the late Maria (Borges) Moreira and Americo Moreira.

In addition to his loving wife, John is survived by his sister, Candida Cabral, and brother-in-law, John Cabral. He also leaves behind his three daughters, who were the pride and joy of his life: Fatima Mavrikis and her husband, Peter; Annemarie Violissi and her husband, Charles; and Rosemarie Alicea and her husband, Geraldo. He will also be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.

Born in Lousa, Portugal, John immigrated to the United States in 1963 at the age of 17, in pursuit of a better future. Through determination, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to his craft, he mastered the skill of rebuilding automatic transmissions and went on to build a successful auto repair business in Marlborough. Known for his friendly nature and strong work ethic, John earned the admiration and friendship of countless customers and fellow business owners throughout the community.

In 1971, John married the love of his life, Magna. Together they built a loving home in Hudson and later Framingham before settling in Cape Cod, where they created treasured memories with their children and grandchildren. Some of John's happiest days were spent boating and fishing off the coast of Hyannis.

John was a proud and active member of his local Portuguese Club for many years. Whether playing in the club's soccer league in his younger days or participating in cultural celebrations later in life, he cherished the lifelong friendships and strong sense of community the club provided.

He was a caring and engaged grandfather who delighted in spending time with his grandchildren, whether fishing together, cheering them on at sporting events, and celebrating birthdays. He and Magna were their biggest supporters, celebrating every accomplishment with great joy.

John loved relaxing on his back deck with family and friends, reminiscing about his childhood and cherished memories of Lousa while watching Magna lovingly tend to her flower garden. His warm smile and sense of humor made everyone feel welcome.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Burial and funeral services will be held privately.
