
John Royer, age 83, of Centerville passed away suddenly on December 1st 2011. John was born in Rexton, New Brunswich ,Canada on November 20, 1928 .He was the son of Ann (MacDonald) Royer and Pierre Valmore Royer. John was a journeyman ironworker in Montreal, before he joined the US Airforce in 1951. When John became an American citizen he sincerely expressed "I want to serve this country before I intend to live here" John served in the US Air Force for 25 years, attaining the rank of Master Sargent in Biomedical Engineering. Following his service career, John worked as a biomedical engineer for Sutter Health in Sacramento,CA.
In the 1950's, when he was stationed at Otis Air Force Base, John met the love of his life, Taimi Royer, who he affectionally referred to as "Skipper". They were happily married for 45 years. John was a very devoted husband and cherished their marriage. Together they had a passion for raising shelties and enjoyed their cross country road trips from California to Cape Cod.
John was a very thoughtful, humble and caring man who would help any friend or neighbor. John was predeceased by his son, Bernard Royer and his two brothers. In addition to his wife, Taimi, John leaves behind a granddaughter, Kendal Royer, grandson Christopher Royer and several nieces and nephews.
John will be deeply missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
There will be a funeral service for John on Friday, December 9th at 11 am at Doane Beal and Ames in Hyannis followed by his burial at the Woodside Cementery in West Yarmouth
