Karen M. Machado

Born in Hyannis, MA on December 30, 1968, she was a daughter of Mary E. Wright and the late Daniel James Wright. Karen was raised in Osterville and graduated from Barnstable High School in 1987. She went on to attend Bridgewater State University where she was a proud member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Karen was an avid gardener and enjoyed working in her yard. In her younger years, she spent a lot of time at Dowses Beach and Joshua's Pond. Karen had a love for animals, particularly her dogs. She was a talented artist, and had a passion for exercising.

She is survived by her daughter, Keri Machado of Mashpee; her mother, Mary E. Wright of Florida; a brother, Michael Wright of Florida; a sister, Patricia Jewett and her partner Robert Rowean of Hyannis; and two nephews, Zachary James Ryan Jewett of Pawtucket, RI and Ethan Taylor Jewett of N. Attleboro; as well as many cousins.

Karen was predeceased by her father, Daniel James Wright, who passed away in 2022.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, September 22nd from 4-8 PM at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St., Hyannis. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 23rd at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 76 Wianno Rd., Osterville, MA 02655. Burial will follow in Mosswood Cemetery, Putnam Ave., Cotuit, MA 02635. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Karen's name to Gosnold Treatment Center, 200 Ter Heun Dr, Falmouth, MA 02540.
