Lee Silva-Dihrberg died peacefully in Hyannis, MA on August 19, 2016 after a short, unexpected illness. Lee, daughter of Edna and Arthur Silva, was born on March 1, 1940 on Commercial St in Provincetown, MA. Lee was the first female dispatcher for the Yarmouth Police Department and was an accomplished stylist for several beauty salons on the Cape. Lee, lovingly dubbed “The Cupcake Lady”, loved to bake, entertain and travel. She was known for her infectious laugh and was blessed with heartfelt relationships with family and friends in St. Petersburg, FL, Cape Cod, MA, and in Antigua.
Lee was a stunningly beautiful, honest, generous, kind, hardworking single mother of four who, after raising her children, lived her life to the fullest. She maintained lifetime relationships with everyone blessed to meet her and always came to the party ready, willing and able to provide a laugh, a smile, home baked goods and sometimes dinner for ten complete with crystal, wine and fine china. Always willing to lend a hand or an ear or a shoulder, Lee was one in a million with a sparkling personality and impeccable zest for life. Clear in her convictions and honest to a fault is how many would describe her – although those closest to her would more describe her as firm in her beliefs and decisive. Lee lived her life on her terms and how she wanted– even in her passing. To say that she will be missed is an understatement. She will be sorely missed.
Lee is survived by three of her four children, including Christina Macro in Washington, DC and Francis A. Macro in S Yarmouth, MA; four of her five grandchildren, Tiffany Ellis, Michael Eno and Marin Macro; several great grandchildren, and a host of long-time friends, family and extended family.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday October 23, 2016 from 10:00am-12:00n at Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, Hyannis, MA, followed by a burial service at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Truro, MA. A memorial reception in her honor will be held at Giardino’s Restaurant in W Yarmouth, MA at 3pm after burial services in Truro.
Additionally, to celebrate and honor Lee’s love of the Caribbean and the many friendships she had established on the island of Antigua, her loved ones will be traveling to Antigua with her remains to memorialize her fondness of the island that Lee visited annually for more than 20 years and considered her home away from home. A catamaran cruise and twilight service will be hosted between Thanksgiving and Christmas at the Jolly Beach Resort in loving memory of Lee to include her informally adopted Antiguan son and extended Antiguan family.
Along with the memorials planned on Cape Cod, MA and in Antigua, another celebration of life is being planned for Mid-November 2016 at The Pinellas Park Eagles Club #4250 in FL for her family, numerous friends and additional extended family located there.
In lieu of flowers, cards and donations should be mailed to The Estate of Lee Silva Dihrberg, c/o Christina Macro, PO Box 1251, Ashburn, VA 20146. Donations, if any, should be made payable to The Lupus Foundation in honor of her late son Mark A. Macro. Please call 703-597-3497 or email [email protected] for any additional information regarding online donations or the many events planned in honor of Lee in celebration of a life well lived.
And finally, the family of Lee Silva-Dihrberg would like to extend heartfelt and sincere gratitude for the support and kindness offered during this very difficult time.
