Lorraine P. Fraser of Barnstable died peacefully at home in her sleep at age 90. She was the oldest daughter of Carl and Evelyn Fraser and is survived by her sister Carlene (Fraser) Duprey, her husband Andre, their children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter.
Lorraine graduated from Barnstable High School in 1950 then entered Simmons College in Boston where she graduated in 1955 from the nursing program. She earned a master’s degree in nursing administration from Columbia Teachers College in 1964.
Professionally she became a director of nursing in several hospitals, developed a non-traditional work schedule system for nursing staff, wrote a book entitled “Contemporary Staffing Techniques in Nursing”, and developed her own consulting practice.
Lorraine returned to Barnstable in 1989 to care for her ailing parents until their deaths. She worked for the VNA of Cape Cod for another 10 years before finally retiring. She enjoyed teaching sewing classes and gardening.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 11AM at Cummaquid Cemetery.
