Margaret Esther (Keith) Cordeiro lived by a philosophy that shaped the way she moved through the world: say yes, be thankful for the small blessings, and enjoy the life you’ve been given. Marge truly did love her life.
Marge, 85, passed away on September 2, 2026. Born on July 12, 1941, and raised in Sacramento, California, by her parents, Euel and Opal Keith.
On November 25, 1961, Marge married Joseph Francis Cordeiro Jr., beginning a lifelong love story that would span more than six decades. In 1972, they settled in Hyannis on Cape Cod, where they created a home filled with family and friends. Together, they shared a love of travel, golf, lifelong friendships, and countless memories.
Family was at the center of Marge’s life. Her home was always welcoming, and walking through the door felt like receiving a big hug. She was someone you could tell anything to. She listened without judgment, helped people talk things through, and had a way of making things feel better. Her warmth, infectious laugh, and genuine interest in others led to friendships that lasted throughout her life.
Marge loved being active and especially enjoyed golf, both playing and watching it. She was a die-hard golf fan, enjoyed tennis and yoga, loved to travel, and rarely turned down an opportunity to try something new or spend time with family and friends.
Because their family spent countless hours at Kennedy Skating Rink, Marge and Joe ran the snack bar there for many years. They became familiar and beloved members of the skating community and made lifelong friends along the way.
Marge worked for Pacific Bell while living in California and later spent many years at the Registry of Deeds in Barnstable, where she again formed lasting friendships.
Above all, Marge loved her family. To her grandchildren, she was Grammy, a role she treasured. She took tremendous pride in her children and grandchildren and was known for showing up for games, celebrations, milestones and everyday moments. When family members left her home, she could often be found at the door or on the porch waving goodbye.
Even after receiving a cancer diagnosis, Marge continued living much as she always had and rarely let on when she was not feeling well. She remained active and surrounded by family and friends until becoming ill at the very end of August.
Marge is survived by her children, Greg (Maureen), Scott (Diahann), and Cathy (Chris) Adams; grandchildren, Shannon, Casey (Mitch) Baldwin, Ryan, Jac, Chris, Dean, Chris, Johnny, and Kayla; and great-grandsons, Calvin and Owen.
She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Reed, Katie (Doug) Tedrick, and Charlotte Keith; brothers-in-law, Richard (Jeanne) Cordeiro and Bruce (MaryAnn) Cordeiro; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Simon) Culverhouse; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Marge was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joe, who passed away on June 14, 2025; her parents, Euel and Opal Keith; her brother, Euel Dean Keith; and her sister, Patricia Smith.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 27th, from 11:00am- 1:00pm at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home located at 160 W. Main St, Hyannis 02601. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 1:00pm with a burial to follow at the St. Francis Xavier’s Cemetery in Centerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Barnstable Council on Aging (FBCOA), 825 Falmouth Rd, Hyannis, MA 02601, to support local senior programs and services.
Marge will be deeply missed and forever remembered. In her memory, say yes, appreciate the small blessings, show up for the people you love and love your life.
