Marion S. (Rafuse) Adams, 96, of Mayflower Place, West Yarmouth, formerly of Canton and Norton died Monday, December 29, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Adams, and loving mother of Nancy and her husband Edwin Houtkooper of San Francisco, CA; John and his wife Linda Adams of Osterville, MA; Susan and her husband Gene Gucwa of Erieville, NY; Janice and her husband Michael Lambrecht of Thornton, NH and the late Robert Adams and Donna Adams. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Gail Huneck of Ft Wayne, IN and many nieces and nephews. Marion had been a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. She was an active member of the Marine Corps Auxiliary, was an avid sports fan, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and needlepoint. While she resided at Mayflower Place, Marion participated in everything from group activities such as bingo, Scrabble, Mai Jong and golf to working at the grocery store to creating beautiful centerpieces for their dining room tables and lounge areas. She also prided herself on doing the Sunday crossword puzzle in pen. She particularly enjoyed events where she could show her creative side, for example creating her own costumes for Halloween or St. Patty's day, even one year making the Cape Cod Times front page! Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it be for a holiday, a family reunion, her birthday “events” or a Sunday football game. She always had a lot of fun and participated in all the activities or games (corn hole / bocci / board games). She was a fun, energetic and intelligent woman, who will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Marion's family would like to thank the staff at the Mayflower Assisted Living and Nursing Center and the Hope Hospice for all the loving care they provided for Marion.
