Mary Ann was born in Winsted, CT to the late Angelina and Joseph Nycz. She was married to her devoted husband, Fred, for 70 years. They spent many happy years in Farmington, CT, Fitzwilliam, NH, and Dennis, MA. Mary Ann had many wonderful friends and hobbies. She loved UConn women’s basketball, gardening, plants, crafts of all kinds, cribbage, and Mah Jong. She was also a wonderful baker & cook.
Mary Ann was a loving wife and caring mother who enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Frederick V. Chaplen, her sister, Sandra Centrella, and her brother, Joseph A. Nycz.
She is survived by her children, Dawn C. Donovan and her husband Mark, Laurie C. Lopez and her husband Hector, and Michele Chaplen; her grandchildren, Erin Ray, Paul Donovan, Alan Donovan, Glen Donovan, Christopher Lopez, and Hector Lopez; and 9 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, 5 Barbara St., South Yarmouth.
