Mary was born on October 6, 1960, in Winthrop, Massachusetts, to Thomas E. Griffin and Catherine M. Griffin. In 1979, she married James M. Cataldo, and together they raised three children: Richard T. Griffin, Melinda M. Barros, and Jennifer A. White.
Mary cherished spending time with family and friends. She found joy in planting flowers in her garden, crocheting blankets for loved ones, baking, reading, and caring for animals of all kinds. Her kindness, warmth, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Mary is survived by her husband, James M. Cataldo; her children, Richard T. Griffin and his girlfriend Heidi Mendoza, Melinda M. Barros and her husband Mark A. Barros, and Jennifer A. White and her husband Jason M. White; her grandchildren, Savannah, Jayla, Gia, Richard, Jason, Aiden, Corrah, and Mark; her great-grandchildren, Aurora and Griffin; her brothers, William R. Griffin and Thomas W. Griffin; and her lifelong best friend, Deborah Costello.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis, Massachusetts 02601. A private burial service for immediate family will be held at a later date.
Mary will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
