OSTERVILLE — Mary Cecilia Ormsby Griffin (Mimi), 91, of Osterville, MA, died peacefully Sunday morning. Mimi’s family and friends were many, and she died just as she lived, surrounded and celebrated by so many who loved her dearly. She grew up in Chestnut Hill, MA, daughter of the late William N. and Cecilia P. Ormsby, and met her adoring husband, the late John T. Griffin, her chief pilot or vice versa for 57 years, while serving as a flight attendant for Northeast Airlines. One of the oldest living and longest members of the Oyster Harbors Club, Osterville MA, a charter member of Jonathan’s Landing, Jupiter, FL, and a former member of the Weston Golf Club, Mary cast a wide net and everyone she touched became a beneficiary of her magnetic personality. Her talents were many and varied; she lit up the runway as a model, performed in and produced many amateur theatrical productions, was a beautiful singer and dancer, avid golfer, enthusiastic bridge player, and those who considered her a friend and mentor ranged in age from 6 to 96. She had the gift. Mary will be joining her two angels , Anne Griffin Herrick of Oyster Harbors and Telluride, CO and Deborah Griffin Cuccia of Milton, MA and will be dearly missed by her surviving children; Maryblair Byrd of Roanoke, VA, John T. Griffin Jr. of Centerville, MA, Marcia G. Russell of Annapolis, MD, Lisa G. Hagerty of Stowe, VT, and William N. Griffin of Hopkinton, MA, as well as her 13 wonderful grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews and literally hundreds of friends who were like family.
