Mary Louise Guiod

June 1, 1933February 19, 2019

Mary Louise Guiod of Marstons Mills, MA, passed peacefully on February 19, 2019, in the company of family, on her beloved Cape Cod.

She was for 63 years the loving and adored wife of Albert R. Guiod of Marstons Mills (originally from Dedham, MA); cherished mother of Joan Marie (Randy) Twining of Glen Arm, MD, Mark A. (Suzanne) Guiod of Boston, MA, and Suzanne E. Guiod of Rochester, NY; beloved grandmother of Kristen Guiod of Arlington, VA, Matthew Guiod of Boston, MA, and David Guiod of W. Granby, CT; and aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by adopted sisters Kathleen (Bernie) McCall and Alice Townes of California, and sister- and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Daniel Guiod, Sr., of Marstons Mills.

Mary was born June 1, 1933, in Dorchester, MA, graduated from Dorchester High School for Girls, married in Boston in 1956, and raised her family in Dedham, MA, where she had a long and successful career as a real estate agent with Century 21 and ReMax Realty.

In retirement, she enjoyed working for Filene’s Fine Jewelry in Hyannis, and proudly became a certified fitness trainer at Curves for Women in Sandwich, MA. In recent years she especially loved her job as a greeter and hostess at the Craigville Retreat Center, where she made many new friends and “always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.”

With her husband, Mary traveled throughout the country as far as Alaska, Arizona, and Bermuda, and together they frequented favorite New England destinations in Newport, RI, and Ogunquit, ME. With friends and family, she traveled abroad to England, Ireland, France, and Italy. She likewise loved spending quiet time in her lovely home, often indulging her passion for classic Hollywood movies.

Throughout her life, Mary was a devoted, loyal, and much-loved friend, treasured for her endearing charm and gentle, disarming wit. Her warmth, wisdom, sweet face, and loving touch will be forever missed.

Mary you were my favorite Aunt I’m sorry I moved away and left you behind so sad. I have never forgotten the time I spent with you and Al, little Joan and of course the cutest baby ever Mark. You and Al showed me how a family really worked together. For sure there is another Angel in heaven . Say hello to my son Joe

Prayers for all of the family

I met Mary's daughter Suzanne when we became roommates. We became fast friends and one day when she went to visit Mary and Albert to have dinner with them, she came home and told me that when Mary was asked what she would like to drink, her response was: "watah...I love watah". For some reason that just struck us as so funny and couldn't stop laughing. We really bonded after that, and we're still dear friends to this day. The occasions I met Mary she was so lovely and warm.

I am so sorry I won't be able to attend, but I'll be there in spirit.

Love to all,

Kathleen aka Reenie McCall

I have way too few special moments with my sweet Aunt Mary since my family moved from Mass to California. Visits to Mass and especially her home in Marstons Mills are treasured memories. Her beautiful smile and always positive demeanor have been her trademark through the years.

My memory of Mary is that of a kind, soft spoken lady, with a smile on her face. I wish to send my deepest sympathy to my uncle Albert and their children.
