Mary Elizabeth Solomita

(November, 10, 1937 – April 10, 2014)

Mary Elizabeth Solomita passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on April 10th after living a wonderful love-filled eighteen months even though she was coping with cancer.

Born in Brockton, she was the cherished daughter of the late Michael A. Solomita and Mary (Celidonio), loving sister of the late Ann Munro, Teresa Savignano, Catherine Carnabuci, Marguerite Stevens, and Martha Gentry and sister–in- law to John Munro, Joseph Carnabuci and Ted Gentry. She was the adoring aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Mary was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School in Brockton and received her graduate degrees from Mount St. Vincent College and Boston University. She worked for many years as Director of Guidance at Cape Cod Community College and was the Dean of External Affairs at Mt. Wachusett Community College before her retirement.

An avid golfer, Mary held the Ladies Club Championship at the Cummaquid Golf Club in 1973 and 1981. Her interests were music, art, theatre , sports, entertaining, travel and books. She mostly enjoyed the company of her friends in the Cape Cod community.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 15th at 11:00 A.M. at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. prior to the service. Burial will be private.
