

Melissa Antoinette (Schneider) Whitener, 69, of Marstons Mills, MA passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Devoted, selfless, and cherished, she will be remembered for the steady love she gave so freely to those around her.
Melissa was the daughter of the late Alan and Mildred (Boyd) Schneider. Born in Boston and raised in Holbrook, she later moved to Cape Cod, where she raised her family and built a life rooted in faith, home, and deep family devotion.
She received a degree in hotel & restaurant management at Boston University. After raising her family, she pursued her career in restaurant management, which brought her to Yellowstone, Texas, and other areas of the country.
Melissa was recently predeceased by her husband, Luther Whitener (2023). She is survived by her adored children, David Laun, Richard Corso, Jr., and Kristen Whitener; her brothers, Bill, Fred, and Jeff; and her sisters, Sharyn, Kathleen, and Maggie. She is also survived by her loving grandkids, and many nieces and nephews.
A devoted Catholic, Melissa was a member of Our Lady of Victory. She found joy in reading, gardening and cooking, and above all else in the love and devotion of family—especially her grandkids, who held a special place in her heart.
Visiting Hours will take place on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 4-8 PM at Doane, Beal & Ames, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 230 S. Main St., Centerville, MA 02632. Melissa’s burial will follow at 2:00 PM in Holbrook, Massachusetts at the family plot.
