

Nathan E. Chase, Jr. died suddenly, July 18, 2015 while visiting with his family on Cape Cod. Nathan, also known to friends and family as “Eddie” or “Nate”, was born to the late Nathan E. Chase and Ethel (Adams) Chase in East Harwich, MA. He graduated from Harwich High School in 1954. His love of the water and boats enticed him to join the Coast Guard soon after, where he proudly served on the Eastwind and toured the South Pole and Antarctica. Upon his return, he graduated from East Coast Aero Tech and met and married his loving wife, Joyce (Linnell) Chase. “Eddie” and Joyce enjoyed 58 years of marriage and have three children, Kathryn E. (Chase) Sandeen and husband Erik of Aloha Oregon, Diane L. (Chase) Hoag and husband, Philip of Centerville and Douglas E. Chase and wife, Melissa of Foxboro, six grandchildren, Adriane Bonaparte, Aaron Sandeen, Ariel (Sandeen) Noyes, Abigail, Emily and Hannah Chase and two great grandchildren, Liam Sandeen and Madelynn Noyes. Before retiring to Port Charlotte, Florida, Nathan and Joyce made their home on Cape Cod, where he worked for 30 years as a generator mechanic for the 102nd Fighter Wing Otis, Ang. and as a Master Sargent for the Air National Guard. Nathan is also survived by his sister, Mary Irene (Chase) Van Norden and husband, Stephen of Saco, ME. He was pre-deceased by his two brothers, Harold James Chase and Herbert Sidney Chase. Nathan loved the ocean, fishing, lighthouses, boats, a good card game and debating current events and politics. He was an active member of the Christ Community United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda and the American Legion Post 0110. Nathan was a kind, generous, devoted and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, Uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Burial Services will be at Otis National Cemetery, Bourne, MA, Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
