It is with the greatest of sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Ann Packett, Lopes, Christensen. Pat was born to Manuel and Bernice Packett in the Hyannis hospital on March 3, 1948. She passed away on January 16, 2025 at the age of 76 with her husband Jack Christensen by her side in their Cape Coral Florida home.
Pat grew up in Brewster Mass, living above the family’s store. She attended Nauset high school and became the school’s first basketball star while scoring over 1000 points in a season. She is now a member of the school’s athletic hall of fame.
Pat went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Ithica college on an athletic scholarship. After graduating, she returned to Cape Cod and taught physical education at Barnstable high school.
Pat was later struck by tragedy from the untimely death of her first husband Marshall Lopes, who she had dearly loved. Eventually, she met her second husband to be, a flight instructor at the Hyannis airport, named Jack. She began taking flight lessons and shortly thereafter, the couple were married. After retiring from teaching Pat became a flight attendant, enabling the two of them to travel the world together. At the time of her passing the couple had been traveling together for over 40 years.
Pat is survived by her mother Bernice, her sister Marilyn, and her two brothers James and Alan. Unfortunately, her father Manuel and brother Russell have previously passed.
A visitation service will be held February 2nd from 12:00 to 2:00PM at Doane, Beal and Ames funeral home at 160 West Main Street Hyannis Mass. Burial will be held at a later date. She will truly, truly be missed.
