Rita Anne Toomey

MARSTONS MILLS – Rita Toomey, 81, passed away at home on May 1, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, John J. Toomey.

Rita was born in Los Angeles, CA and moved to Cape Cod with her husband over 40 years ago; living in Yarmouth for 17 years and Marstons Mills for 25 years. She spent her career as a secretary/bookkeeper, which she enjoyed very much, retiring in 2004.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, traveling, and knitting.

She is survived by her four children son Kevin J. Toomey and his wife Mai of Baltimore MD; daughters, Mary T. Poirier of Frederick MD, Sheila Sylvia and husband Matt of Centerville, MA, and Grace Toomey Miller of West Yarmouth, MA. She also leaves her grandchildren: Linh Toomey, Lex Poirier, Mickey Poirier, Brad Sylvia, Kim Sylvia, Kyle Miller and Estefana von Hauson, Kaitlyn Miller and Casey Miller; and 2 great grandchildren Lir Miller von Hausen and Aylin Marie Miller von Hausen.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Friday, May 6th at St. Francis Xavier, Hyannis, MA. Private burial take place at a later date.
