He was born in Boston to Robert and Ann (Lynch) Connolly. He is survived by his five children: Carol of Marstons Mills, Robert III and wife Jean of Pepperell, Thomas of Centerville, Joanne Guertin and late husband Robert of Cummaquid, Joseph and wife Dorothy of Canton; and his devoted companion, Mary Fallon of Clinton & Centerville; and seven grandchildren: Nathan, Robert IV, Caitlin, Kelsey, Matthew, Kevin and Shaylyn; and three great grandchildren: Isabel Isabelle, Jack Jackson, and Callie. He was predeceased in 1984 by his wife Isabel (Stahl) Connolly formerly of Brookline. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Ann McCarthy of Jamaica Plain and husband James and by his brother Paul Connolly and wife Barbara of Walpole.
He graduated from Boston English High School and attended Newman Preparatory School in Boston. He was a graduate of Suffolk University, Bridgewater State University, Boston State College and was a recipient of National Science Foundation grants at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Va. and Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Il where he studied advanced science and mathematics. He also studied Massachusetts school law at Harvard University. He was a Massachusetts teacher and principal for 38 years in Attleboro, Quincy and Milton. He was a member of the Massachusetts Schoolmasters Club in Boston. He was a US Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific theater with the 24’th infantry division. He was a licensed Massachusetts real estate broker for over 25 years. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Cape Cod chapter #96 in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Services have been held.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes a private burial was held at the National Veterans Cemetery in Bourne, Ma. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
