

Robert (“Bob or Bobby”)Arthur Hayward, 72, lost his battle after fighting a long illness at the Pavilion in Centerville. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday March 27, 2011.
Bob was born in Acushnet on May 29th 1938. He grew up in Falmouth and graduated from Falmouth High School. During his childhood years, he helped maintain his family farm.
He was the father of Bobby Hayward Jr. of Wisconsin, Dianna Lynn Cody of Sharon and Melody Britton of Centerville. He was survived by his grandchildren Cassie Lynn Cody, Nicholas Britton and (Theresa Hayward). He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Rhinnander, cousins, Janet Wilbur and Michael Cornell and ex-wife and friend Elaine Kimball.
Bob lived in Nantucket for many years and worked as a meat cutter for the A&P and also a painter on the island. He had many friends and was admired for his singing and his charismatic guitar playing. He played in bands, wrote music and enjoyed entertaining people with his talent. Inspiration for playing came from his passion of country music.
He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. The family will have a memorial visitation from 4-6:30 pm on Thursday March 31 at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St. Hyannis. A memorial service will follow from 6:30 -7pm in the funeral home on Thursday.
