

Rodney J. R. Cyr passed away on April 9, 2020. He was born July 16, 1934. He was 85 years old. Rodney was preceded in death by his mother Juliette (Michaud) Cyr and father Joseph Cyr, his sister Evangeline Cyr, his wife Elizabeth (Galvin) and daughter-in-law, Laurie Cyr.
He was the oldest son of four children. He was born in Waterville, ME and as a child, loved to work on his grandmothers farm. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army and in 1956 met Elizabeth Ann Galvin from East Hartford, CT. They were married in 1958 and had four children. They were married for 55 years until Elizabeth’s passing in 2011.
Rodney was an orthopedic shoe salesman for many years, but known for his creativity and hard work, went on to work in the landscaping field. He eventually ended up working for Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL where he was so proud of his work at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Rodney had many hobbies that included furniture making, woodworking, and he created many beautiful items. In his younger years, he loved cross country skiing and bike riding. Rodney lived and breathed for his family. They were everything to him. The birth of his granddaughter Kathryn Elizabeth was one of the true highlights of his life. In recent years he enjoyed going to the gym three X weekly so he could remain in good health and watch his granddaughter grow up. His passing is a great loss to all that new and loved him.
He is survived by daughter Elaine M. Cyr of West Yarmouth, son Stephen J. Cyr of Whitman, son James M. Cyr and his wife Kim (Simmons) and daughter Kathryn E. of Norwell, daughter Linda J. (Cyr) Romano and her husband Steven Romano of Duxbury, also, brother Warren Cyr of Middletown, CT And brother Kenneth Cyr and wife Angie of Texas.
There will be a memorial celebration of his life, to be scheduled at a later date. Burial will be private. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the United States(HSUS).
