

Ruth was born in Braddock, PA and graduated from Barnstable High School, Class of 1961. She received a BA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1965.
Ruth wore many hats during her life, some of them quite silly. She was a candy maker, teacher, librarian, bookkeeper, florist, housemaker, quilter, pet (and plant) whisperer, mother, and grandmother but most of all she was an incredibly talented artist. Ruth was a multifaceted artist and an expert in color theory. She worked in multiple mediums including fabric arts, illustration, painting, sculpture, poetry, glassblowing, lampwork, pottery, and basket weaving. She had a talent for creating whimsical art from found objects and any random items she had at hand. Ruth was highly active in the quilting community through Tumbleweed Quilts and Bayberry Quilters.
Ruth is survived by her two sons and six grandchildren: Alex, his wife Lynn and their children Mikayla, Collin, Ryan, and Hailey of Westborough, MA; and Edward, his ex-spouse Leah and their children Freya and Nolan of Sudbury, MA. She is also survived by her brother Pete Byers and his wife Carol of South Yarmouth, MA.
Visiting Hours will take place on Wednesday, April 1st 3:30-7:00PM at Doane, Beal & Ames, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601. A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, April 2nd at Mosswood Cemetery, 280 Putnam Avenue, Cotuit with a reception to follow.
