Shirley Newell Doe, 87, of Barnstable Village died June 8th after a long series of pulmonary problems. She and her husband Bill enjoyed 34 years of retirement in his family's ancestral home. She was a retired elementary school teacher in Simsbury, Connecticut and was an avid gardener, baker and world traveler. She was the amazing mother of Dr. Robert Gorham Doe and Deborah Doe Griffin. She loved her six grandchildren, Misse, Christina, Erika, Max, Genevieve, and Gabrielle and her five great grandsons. She was a former member of the AAUW, an avid reader and card player. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth on July 8th at 7:30 p.m. She will be laid to rest in the Doe private cemetery in Rollinsford, New Hampshire. Gifts in her memory can be made to her church.
