

Thomas J. Hannon, Esq, 81, of Barnstable, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Wingate Harwich with his loving wife of 36 years, Carol, by his side. Tom was born in Boston, the only son of the late Francis X. Hannon and Elizabeth (Manion) Hannon of Milton MA. He was a graduate of Boston College High School, class of 1955. In 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp as PFC stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. Upon completing his service, Tom graduated from Suffolk University in 1961 with a BA degree and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 1965. He was a member of the Boston Bar Association and worked in private practice in Boston and Cape Cod until 2016. In addition, he also worked as Director of Inmate Legal council in both the Barnstable and Plymouth House of Corrections from 1999-2016. As Sargent, Tom was a proud member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company from 1983 until his death, where he made many friends.
Tom loved Lake Winnipesaukee. After purchasing a condo and pontoon boat in 2002, he and Carol created many fond memories of exploring the lake, throwing the anchor, turning on the Red Sox and swimming off the boat. In winter they would visit wonderful friends in Hollywood and Naples, FL.
Tom is survived by his wife Carol. He also leaves behind several cousins and his beloved and devoted Collie, "Danny Boy". Tom is also survived by Patricia Hannon Hurley of No. Falmouth and Barry P. Hannon, Esquire of Braintree and predeseased by Edwin F Hannon, Jr., Jean Grace and Marie Malinowski.
Calling hours will be held at Doane, Beal, & Ames Funeral Home located on 160 West Main St. in Hyannis on October 12, 2018 from 8:30-10:30 AM followed by a mass at St. Francis Xavier at 11:00 AM. A burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery will follow at 1:15 PM. A reception will be held at Brookside Golf Course in Bourne following burial.
