W. Bruce Slater

W. Bruce Slater 74, of Hyannis, MA passed away on Wednesday September 27, 2023. He leaves behind: his beloved wife of 54 years, Beverly (Hanna) Slater of Hyannis, MA; His son Bruce Slater, his wife Emily Slater, and three grandchildren, William, Eleanor, and Philip of Greensboro, NC; His son Terry Slater and his wife Beth Slater of Worcester, MA; His brother Howard Slater and his wife Margaret Slater of Buxton, ME; His brother Jerry Slater and his wife Mary Slater of Hamden, CT; and several nieces and nephews.

Bruce was born in Stamford, CT to the late Howard Slater and Lilyan (Fitzroy) Slater and grew up in Greenwich, CT. He later moved his family to Sandwich, MA on Cape Cod where he raised his children. Bruce worked as a beverage sales agent for several distributors and made many meaningful connections to people in the area throughout his career.

A car enthusiast, he enjoyed owning classic cars and spending weekends at car shows. An avid dog lover, Bruce owned many beloved pets over the years, especially his Rottweiler Mandy. He was always carrying dog biscuits in his pockets for the neighborhood dogs walking by on their daily stroll. He loved sitting on his front porch enjoying a glass of wine and a cigar as he waved to everyone in the neighborhood going by. Bruce was quick with a joke or some teasing banter with all the staff at local establishments. He will be missed by his family as well as many within the community that he loved being a part of.
